Christopher Morrow is the Student Body President of Hawai`i Pacific University. He was born in Tennessee and spent his childhood in northern Georgia. Chris began his previous career in the medical field by providing care for elderly patients in nursing homes.

 

In 2003, he joined the United States Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman and medical laboratory technician. He assisted with the deliveries of approximately 270 newborn babies at Naval Medical Center San Diego, and graduated with honors from the Naval School of Health Sciences. He ran the Navy-Marine Corps HIV testing program for the Hawai`i region processing over ninety-thousand blood samples to assure our sailors and marines where mission ready. He also led his command’s color guard detail during the ground-breaking ceremony of the USS Oklahoma memorial while he was stationed at Pearl Harbor. Upon leaving active duty, he worked as a federal civilian employee in the hematology department of Tripler Army Medical Center until 2013 when he enrolled at HPU full-time.

 

Currently, Chris is in the final semester of his undergraduate studies and is majoring in communication. He enjoys hiking and camping in his leisure time. He is a member of the honor societies Alpha Sigma Lambda, Lambda Pi Eta, and Alpha Chi. He has been a member of the HPU Debate Society for three years and is a champion of the 2015 Windward Community College debate tournament. He has competed in the 2015 Huber Debates, the 2015 USU West Coast Regionals, and the 2015 USUDC. He also participated in the inaugural Capitol Debate. Chris plans to pursue a juris doctor degree, and hopes to work as an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union or the Southern Poverty Law Center.
